Susan Schweitzer Ceramics

My work is built around interweaving form, fluidity and space. My textures are developed in layers to carry the visual experience inward. Cultural influences from travels abroad often play a role in my artwork — from hearing the roar of the white lions in South Africa to exploring the pyramids of Teotihuacan. Working with clay, I ponder humanity and preservation at the core essence of being. I work with white and stoneware clay bodies and apply stains to accentuate my mark making. Glaze and colorants are added selectively, leaving exposed raw clay to interact with the firing process. Soda firing leaves an imprint, revealing how the fire dances around my work. I know a piece is complete when all the elements feel in concert with one another. In a world of constant motion and stimulation overload, the intention of my work is to create better clarity in the moment. My desire is that through the experience of my work, people see something in a different way — a moment of curiosity that opens to possibility, a discovery that awakens wonderment, or exploration without trepidation.

Amy Zins is a gifted empathic intuitive who inspires the best in others. She was stirred to bring forth her gifts after undergoing treatment for breast cancer in 2016. Totem Loving Care was born out of the heart-driven desire to help others find comfort at times in life when they need it most. Amy’s unique work begins with receiving and interpreting messages from spirit animals, which serve as a guidepost in her readings. Her process continues by combining the animal messages with the wisdom of oracle/tarot cards. She will answer your what, why and how questions, which offer alternative perspectives on your life’s choices. Amy’s heart-centered, inspiring readings will leave you feeling soothed and empowered!

A little guidance and insight can help both you and your pet on your journey together.

Restful Wraps

My name is Mary Jane and I work at a Children's Hospital and create  Restful Wraps weighted blankets. Creating is a passion of mine! When 2 co-workers asked me if I could make weighted blankets for their sons, I thought I'd give it a try. What a cool thing, creating and helping kids! Being a former teacher with a background in special education, I thought this was a good fit for my skills, passion, and education. My faith is also important to me so I started praying for every person who I was making blankets for. When working with a client, I like to learn a bit about them...their interests, the colors they like, how tall they are, how much they weigh, and why they are looking for a weighted blanket. This has been a wonderful process. There is an ever-changing collection of fabrics that I have found very appealing and I like to offer a solid coordinating color for the back of each blanket.

Unique Gifts for Any Occasion

As a child growing up in Russia, wood burning and other crafts were always a hobby of mine. Wire trees with gem stones were popular in Europe and they particularly intrigue me. When Mike and I met, we realized we both had a fascination for the beauty of the world. We incorporate this fascination in our art and it has now become much more than a hobby!

Beyond the Trees

Performing live from 10:00-12:30

Just Us is an acoustic duo made up of Alek Glauvitz (guitar and vocals) and Arja Lea Niskanen (vocals) from St. Paul, MN. They perform an eclectic acoustic mix of folk, original, contemporary and classic rock. Their original music blends a Minnesota/North Shore sensibility with an urban/bluegrass folk feel for a very unique sound. They have performed sets over the past three years from the Twin Cities to Southern Minnesota and to the most northwestern border of the state: from central Wisconsin to Wisconsin's northern lake shores.

The Freeturnals

Performing live from 12:30-3:00

It started out in a small basement room with out-of-tune guitars and loud amplifiers when they were just eight years old trying to be the Beatles. As teenage years rolled in, punk rock influenced the two, to be who they were despite the negativity of living in small town. They wanted to be different and different they were. Over the years as the music progressed between the two, they played together in several bands, one that became popular in the twin cities. Never losing sight of their roots, the two brothers knew it was time to span off and do something that was all their own. A band that combines everything that they grew up to love about music with just the two of them to create the essence of the connection musically and spiritually that exists between twin brothers. Sometimes it's loud, sometimes it's soft. It's natural and It's in the moment. It's The Freeturnals.

Warm Hands for Cause

Hi. My name is Colleen. I retired as a nurse midwife a few years ago and now I birth mittens and hats. Each are unique. My business , "Warm Hands for Cause" was birthed from my wishes to support a variety of non-profits. So the "cause" portion of my title supports a home for disabled in Haiti, a 2 year skilled birth attendant school in Haiti called "Midwives for Haiti", and a disability community in Liberia called "hope Disability Motivation". 50-90% of my profits get reinvested in those non-profits. The "warm hands" portion of my title is obvious: mittens made from recycled wool sweaters, and they are warm! I participated in Mobile Menders, Days for Girls, Sewing Club at Lakeview Commons with Somali women and I have lead a group of women to make fleece mittens for schools and shelters. What a joy to realize my sewing machine and childhood learning is a way to lend a hand up to the world.

Amanda Wolf Hara, Wild Priestess

At an early age, I was instilled with deep love for Nature, spirituality, and the arts. These butterflies were born out of a reminder that even the most difficult transitions can result in magic and beauty. These unique ornamental figures are entirely handmade. I use upcycled tissue paper and velum for their wings, I had-draw and paint the veins for a stained-glass effect and sculpt each fairy body using polymer clay. After each part cures, the wings are then matched up with a body that fits the overall character of both parts. I know they are a match when both parts come alive and look as they are about to take flight! Each piece takes about a week to complete. Each butterfly is made to bring joy, magic, and wonder to wherever it calls home! I can be found on Facebook under Wild Priestess,

Tara Frady Pottery

I enjoy creating things that make people smile, that are unexpected. My inspiration comes from the world around me, whether it be the tall buildings and bustle of downtown Minneapolis, or the tiny body of an obscure bug found while camping in the Minnesota woods. My work always has a childlike playfulness, yet encompasses a useful functionality. It is driven by the freedom to play. Integrating the design of the organic clay with the sparkle of the Swarovski crystals make my creating unique, whether it be jewelry or a functional piece of art. None of my pieces are the same, as I enjoy the dance of the clay from the first time my fingers feel the squish to the colorful yet natural piece it becomes. It is always an organic process. Most of my work is fired n an atmospheric kiln, and is wither gas or soda fired. My goal is to bring joy.
